Kyenjojo District Launches FY 2025/26 Local Government Performance Assessment with Renewed Commitment to Excellence

Kyenjojo District officially hosted the FY 2025/26 Local Government Performance Mock Assessment Entry Meeting, bringing together the Heads of Departments, Sub-County Chiefs, Town Clerks, Accountants, and political leaders to kick-start and prepare for this year's national performance assessment.

Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Vincent Kyaligonza, urged all departments and Lower Local Governments to fully support the mock assessment process, in preparation for the National Assessment Exercise by the Ministry of Local Government and Office of the Prime Minister.

"This exercise is about demonstrating compliance, transparency and our collective commitment to delivering quality public services. Let every officer provide accurate information and the necessary evidence."

Presenting the district performance briefing,  the Senior Treasurer, Mr. Jordan Alicwamu,on behalf of the District Planner, Ms. Immaculate Atuhurra, highlighted Kyenjojo's remarkable progress during the FY 2024/25 assessment. The district improved its national ranking from 151st to 90th out of 176 Local Governments, climbing 61 positions, largely driven by exceptional performance in Production and Micro-scale Irrigation.

The Planner also noted significant sector improvements:
Production rose from 40% to 90% (best-performing sector);
Water & Sanitation improved from 49% to 70%;
Health from 50% to 71%;
Education from 41% to 68%;
Infrastructure from 36% to 57%; while Micro-scale Irrigation maintained an impressive 84% performance.

Despite the gains, she called for greater preparedness ahead of this year's assessment, emphasizing improved documentation, timely reporting, stronger supervision, mock assessments, and enhanced staff commitment to sustain Kyenjojo's upward trajectory and improve service delivery across all Lower Local Governments.

District Chairperson Hon. Gilbert Rubaihayo applauded the team for the improved performance and reaffirmed the district's commitment to accountability and improved service delivery.

"Performance assessments enable us to measure our progress, identify areas for improvement, and ensure better services for our people. We are fully committed to this process, especially in this new “Kisanja no more sleep.”"

He also encouraged the team to aim for 100% for this FY, and this would only be possible through early and sufficient preparation, involving Local council leaders in the mock assessment, and seeking support when needed.

Kyenjojo District remains committed to continuous improvement, transparency and accountability in pursuit of sustainable socio-economic transformation and improved livelihoods for all residents.
